OK so I couldn't come up with anything more original or exciting. So you are just stuck with what it was like before.

Only two more days of freedom, and then it is back to the grind of the next semester.

Under Construction

Don't worry. You're not lost. I am simply playing around with my blog right now. Comments and suggestions are welcome.

(I just realized that the spell checker works! I know it seems really trite and insignificant to the rest of you, but to me it is a big deal because I no longer have to paste everything into my word processor before I post it. I am so happy!)

Winter Camps in Review

Winter Camps are finally over. After two weeks in Nan-Tou at Yong-Le Elementary school, and four days at Zhong-Zheng Elementary School here in Kinmen, I am finally able to sleep in and relax.

As far as how it went, well....lets just say that the personality quiz below was pretty accurate of me. It was a lot of fun. Most of the kids were great. But I feel sorry for the ones who were hard to get along with. Some of those kids just didn't want to cooperate. If they wanted to act like 2 year olds, thats fine. I treated them like two year olds. "OK Billy. Good job. Now sweep this tile." Billy sweeps tile and starts playing again. "Come back, Billy, you didn't get all of it. Do it again." Billy does it again and leaves. "Come back, Billy, we are not finished yet. Lets try this one more time."

Anyway, I am glad I did it and I'm glad it is over.

Changing subjects slightly....

Today...

Jane wanders into the kitchen looking for something to eat for lunch. Doesn't see anything. (Insert note: Our kitchen consists of a toaster oven, a microwave, a refrigerator, and a blender. There is also a table that is on the point of collapsing. We had a water fountain where you could get hot, warm, or cold water but that is broken.)

Jane wanders in to the living room still in search of food. Still sees nothing.

Jane wanders into her room and looks for food. 'Do I really want to eat lunch anyway?'

Having decided that she doesn't want to fast, she goes back into the kitchen where an amazing teammate, Lauren, is making cookies. After standing in the way between life and death, she samples the cookies and confirms that they are not poisonous.

She goes back to the living room.

Finally after making several trips from the kitchen to the living room to the bedroom, she finally decides to have mac and cheese.

However, since the water fountain is broken upstairs, she must go down stairs to get hot water to boil the noodles.

Jane takes her bowl down stairs and proceeds to fill it with hot water.

Having finished filling it, she comments to herself on the possible dangers of carrying hot water up the stairs. Convincing herself that she is not in any real danger, and that since she has already thought of the possibilities, nothing is likely to happen, she proceeds up the stairs.

About 5 stairs up, she stumbles and spills the entirety of the contents of the bowl on her hand. The suddenness of the situation causes her to let out an ear piercing scream likened only to those which she performs during skits when playing the cat being chased by the dog.

Lauren comes as close to a heart attack as we pray she will ever be and rushes over to see what is wrong. Jane comely says she is ok and looks with curiosity at her hand which looks like it has just come in from being in the sun for four hours. Lauren has Jane hold her hand under the cold water for what seems like forever, or until the hand was completely numb with the cold. Lauren then, out of the graciousness of her heart, or perhaps the desire that no more undue stress be applied to her nervous system, fills Jane's bowl again with hot water and safely brings it upstairs. She then provides Jane with a burn relief cream to put on her hand. Jane applies the medication and proceeds to make her lunch and eats it without any further adventures.
